Stand therefore,
having girded your waist with truth, having put
on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all,
taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.   And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God;
praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all
the saints." —
Ephesians 6:10-18 NKJV

"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,
nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,   nor height nor depth,
nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God
which is in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 NKJV

"Walking in the Spirit"

"I say then:
'Walk in the Spirit, and you
shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit,
 and the Spirit against the flesh;
and these are contrary to one another ...'"
Galatians 5:16-17 NKJV
"Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world.
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it;
but he who does the will of God abides forever."
1 John 2:15-17 NKJV

"Know the Enemy ~ Know the Method"

Satan, the archenemy of all believers, has been tempting people to turn from
God since the first woman on earth listened to his lies. Interestingly enough, his methods have never really changed.  He tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-6), Jesus in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11), and tempts us in our
daily lives.  When we know how he attacks, we can be prepared.

Christians can be blindsided if we are not aware of ongoing spiritual warfare. We need to be watchful even when all seems to be peaceful and pleasant, so that when something unexpected and unpleasant suddenly crosses our path, we don’t fall back into the flesh and react with vengeance or self pity. When we are not prepared, we are vulnerable to attack and we may not only forget the fact of ongoing spiritual warfare, we may forget who we are in Christ, the identity of the enemy, and our armor.
We are engaged in a spiritual battle — all believers find themselves subject to Satan's attacks because they are no longer on Satan's side. Thus, the Word of God tells us to use every piece of God's armor to resist Satan's attacks and to stand true to God in the midst of those attacks.

Belt of Truth — Satan fights with lies, and sometimes his lies sound like truth; but only believers have God's truth, which can defeat Satan's lies.

Breastplate of Righteousness — Satan often attacks our heart — the seat of our emotions, self-worth, and trust. God's righteousness is the breastplate that protects our heart and ensures his approval. He approves of us because He loves us and sent His Son to die for us.

Shoes of Readiness to Spread the Good News — Satan wants us to think that telling others the Good News is a worthless and hopeless task — the size of the      task is too big and the negative responses are too much to handle. But the foot gear God gives us enables us to proclaim the true peace that is available in God
 —news everyone needs to hear.

Shield of Faith — What we see are
Satan's attacks in the form of insults,
setbacks and temptations.  But the
shield of faith protects us from
Satan's flaming arrows. With God's
perspective, we can see beyond our
circumstances and know that
ultimate victory is ours.

Helmet of Salvation — Satan
wants to make us doubt God, Jesus,
and our salvation. The helmet
 protects our mind from doubting
God's saving work for us.

Sword of The Spirit — The sword  is the only weapon of offense in the Word of God's list of armor.  There are times when we need to take the offensive against Satan. When we are tempted, we need to live in the Spirit of God's word.

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal
but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts
itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ," ...
2 Corinthians 10:2-5 NKJV

"My brethren,
be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor
of God, that you may
be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts
of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore take up the
whole armor of God,
that you may be able
to withstand in the
evil day, and having
done all, to stand."
