- Studying the Bible is Necessary for Our Spiritual Growth ~ God's Word performs three functions to help us mature spiritually. Just as we need to continually breathe oxygen to survive, we need to regularly study and apply the Bible to grow and flourish spiritually. Here are some important reasons why "The Most Excellent Way" relies solely on God's Word for life and ministry:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV ~ "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
- Studying the Bible Cleanses Us ~
Psalm 119:9 NKJV ~ "How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word."
Deuteronomy 11:18-19 NKJV ~ "Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."
- Studying the Bible Makes Scripture a Central Part of Our Lives.
God desires that we make His Word an integral part of our lives.
- Studying the Bible Helps Us Apply God's Truth to Our Lives ~ God desires that we make His Word an integral part of our lives.
Psalm 1:1-3 NKJV ~ "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."
- Studying the Bible Helps Us Stand Against Temptation and the Wiles of the Devil ~ Scripture provides our offensive weapon against evil.
"And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable
and perfect will of God." ~Romans 12:2 NKJV
"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God
and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us
all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge
of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been
given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through
these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped
the corruption that is in the world through lust."
2 Peter 1:2-4 NKJV
